Horizon 2020 Luxembourg National Launch Conference, 14th January 2014 (am)
Horizon 2020 – the New European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation
Horizon 2020 is the European Union’s new programme for research and innovation. Endowed with approx. 77 billion € for 2014-2020, this programme aims at creating new growth and jobs in Europe, thereby strengthening Europe’s global competitiveness.
Horizon 2020 can be seen as the continuation of current European RDI programmes such as FP7, CIP, and EIT, but puts a renewed emphasis on excellence in fundamental research, future-oriented industrial leadership and solutions to societal concerns such as climate change, sustainable mobility, food safety, or demographic change. It also introduces some technical changes, ranging from revised funding models, novel theme-based calls, bottom-up programmes, and a reinforced emphasis on the whole research-to-market value chain.
The conference will provide a general introduction to the Horizon 2020 programme, address certain technical aspects, and highlight opportunities for Luxembourg research actors in EU programmes.
