| Luxinnovation, the National Agency for Innovation and Research, and the National Research Fund, Luxembourg's two National Contact Points (NCP) for PEOPLE programme (FP7), have the pleasure of inviting you to a workshop on "Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways" (IAPP / Actions Marie Curie), an initiative designed and funded by the European Commission to spark collaboration between companies and universities. The workshop will take place on the 12th of June 2009, from 14:00 until 17:00 at the Chamber of Commerce, Training Centre (room F14). |

Public-private partnerships in the FP7
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about how private firms and public research groups of all sectors can resort to European funds to set up public-private partnerships for joint research activities.
The European Commission's 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development is the major public contributor to R&D projects in Europe. FP7 notably provides financing to collaboration initiatives between private firms and universities as concerns Marie-Curie projects and IAPPs (Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways).
IAPPs aim at bolstering long-term collaboration between the public and private research sectors by on the one hand stimulating the mobility and education of scientists and on the other hand enabling companies, in particular SMEs, to benefit from the finest in research expertise.
An IAPP partnership binds at least one public entity (university or research centre) to one private party from another country in a joint research project lasting four years at the most. European funds may cover up to 100% of the project's overall cost, and typically average 1 million EUR. In spite of a high 40% acceptance rate, IAPP projects remain relatively unheard of.
