Minisymposium on Physics & Chemistry as Keys to the Future of Innovative Polymer Science in Europe (Luxembourg, LU)

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication of the University of Luxembourg, the Fonds National de la Recherche, and Luxinnovation are organising a Minisymposium on Physics & Chemistry as Keys to the Future of Innovative Polymer Science in Europe.

Speakers
The symposium will start with an introduction by Rector Rolf Tarrach.

Invited speakers giving 20 minutes overview presentations followed by discussions are:

  • Jan Krüger, Université du Luxembourg - Innovative polymer science from a physicist's point of view
  • Leo Koole, Universiteit Maastricht - Polymers in Europe: how did we get here, and where should we go?
  • Michele Sferrazza, Université Libre de Bruxelles - Interfaces in confined polymer systems
  • Jean-François Gohy, Université Catholique de Louvain - Block copolymers: smart building blocks for functional nanomaterials
  • Ullrich Scherf, Bergische Universität Wuppertal - Structural design of semiconducting oligomers, polymers, and copolymers
  • Wulff Possart, Universität des Saarlandes - A materials scientist's view at the interface of polymers to other materials
  • Klaus Meerholz, Universität zu Köln - Chemistry needs physics needs chemistry - a case study on organic electronics
  • Nicola Tirelli, University of Manchester - Responsive polymers and "soft" materials
  • Christian Wagner, Universität des Saarlandes - Molecular properties in viscoelastic flow
  • Udo Weimar, Universität Tübingen - Opportunities for innovation: polymer sciences in the European context

The sessions will be led by:

  • Klaus-Viktor Peinemann, GKSS Geesthacht
  • Ulrich Suter, ETH Zürich
