The Luxembourg CleanTech Cluster managed by Luxinnovation, fosters innovation, business development and cross-sector cooperation by focusing on an exciting area for potential growth – sustainable living and clean technologies.

The cluster supports it members in the generation of new processes, products and services with an ultimate goal of turning the concept of the circular economy into a reality in Luxembourg.

Objectives:

  • Diversify the activities of the Luxembourg companies thus allowing them to gain and to develop new capabilities in the clean technologies field
  • Contribute to the development of new environmental solutions in the field of eco-technologies and sustainable construction
  • Raise the public awareness for the uptake of “green technologies”
  • Build public-private partnerships in order to develop new collaborative projects of common interest
  • Encourage the networking between public and private actors on the national and the international level

Close to €1bn in state aid to businesses in five years

In about five years, the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy has granted businesses €906m in various state aid measures, focused notably on R&D, innovation and environmental protection. The support provided resulted in investments totalling €1.5bn in Luxembourg. A majority of the co-funded companies were informed by Luxinnovation in their application process.

Two first Luxembourg start-ups receive EIC Accelerator funding

The European Commission recently announced that Arspectra and Circuli-ion have been awarded funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. This is the most prestigious funding available for start-ups from the EU’s Horizon Europe programme. Luxinnovation supported the first-ever EIC Accelerator winners from Luxembourg during the application process.
