From 26/01/2021 to 29/01/2021

9h-17h

Belval Campus or via Webex
(Luxembourg)

The workshop is organised in the frame of the H2020 DRIVEN European project with the aim to boost the scientific excellence and technology-transfer capacity in data-driven simulation of the University of Luxembourg.

Presentation

The workshop provides the participants with the latest insight in a wide variety of topics on the manufacturing, modelling, and identification of advanced materials and structures. The mechanical behaviour and/or structural integrity is key to the discussed processes, methods, approaches and experimental tests. The topics range from the testing of laser joining, the modelling of melt instabilities, the identification of random input fields of mechanical parameters, multiscale methods for metallic lattices created by additive manufacturing to the manufacturing, modelling and mechanical testing of composite materials.

Audience

The workshop is tailored to PhD students and the presentations of 20 minutes intend to reveal the crucial elements of the said topic. Two companies will be present their latest developments and short sessions on intellectual property, Marie Curie fellowships and life after PhD studies are included. PhD student participants will present their own PhD work in a five minute presentation using three slides in order to compete for the Award for the Perfect Pitch (€600,- for the first price, €300,- for the second price and €100,- for the first price).

Virtual or in-person

The workshop will be held online. However, participants can also jointly follow the online lectures in a lecture room at the University of Luxembourg where coffee and lunch will be served – all according to the covid19 guidelines of that moment. A method to verify attendance will be formulated. If participation is indeed verified, the participant will receive a certificate of participation.
