Innowwide is funded by the European Union as part of the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs.

Innowwide funding for Luxembourg entities

Innovative SMEs can apply to Innowwide for a grant of €60,000 to assess the viability of their research of commercial ambitions in international markets.

Research institutes and universities are currently not eligible for Innowwide grants.

Innowwide funding rates

  • The maximal funding rate is 70% of project costs. As the Innowwide funding amount is fixed at €60,000, the eligible project costs must be at least €86,000.

Eligible costs

  • Eligible costs are personnel, subcontracting, purchasing costs (travel and subsistence, equipment depreciation, other goods, works and services) and indirect costs (automatically calculated on the basis of a 25% flat-rate of the total direct eligible costs, excluding subcontracting).
  • Cooperation with a main subcontractor is an important part of the market feasibility project, so a reasonable budget should be allocated to the subcontractor.

Eligible activities

To be eligible, the application must include elements form sections 1, 2 and 3 (market and technical activities) and can include (but not exclusively) elements from sections 4 and 5 (business development and promotion).

  1. Co-creation and technology uptake preparatory work (innovation and technology transfer services)
  2. Market research (desk and field studies)
  3. Compliance verification
  4. Business prospection trips – limited and justifiable within the market feasibility project
  5. Specific promotional technical material preparation (technology valorisation-oriented) – limited and justifiable within the market feasibility project.

Situations to be avoided?

  • Unilateral projects (without a subcontractor in a new international market)
  • Exclusively business trips, workshops, matchmaking events or promotional activities

Preparing an Innowwide project?

The main steps include:

  • Preparing a competitive application including an independent partner entity (main subcontractor), legally established in a target country in one of the target regions.
  • Submitting your project application through the SmartSimple platform.
  • Your proposal will be evaluated by a group of experts who recommend to the EUREKA Member States which proposals should be retained for funding. Three general criteria of utmost importance in the evaluation process include:
    • Excellence
    • Impact
    • Quality of implementation

As the National Contact Point, we can guide you through the whole process.

I am interested in participating in Innowwide projects in the future. What do you advise me to do to keep up to date and optimise my application?
