Workshop: Industry 4.0 & Horizon 2020

Industrial Leadership is one of three priorities of the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020 and it has laid out a path to digitise European industry. Industry 4.0 refers to the whole manufacturing process being digitally connected – concept, design, suppliers, production site distributors and services, even the product itself – thus providing a highly integrated value chain. The EU supports this process change and has allocated €1.7 billion for research and development topics addressing digitisation of the European industry as well as the uptake of digital technologies.
