New funding opportunities under Horizon 2020 for Next-Generation Batteries

The European Commission published a separate cross-thematic work programme with new Horizon 2020 funding opportunities under the title “Building a Low-Carbon, Climate Resilient Future: Next-Generation Batteries”.
The work programme addresses the challenge of transitioning towards a de-carbonised society, building on the COP21, the EU 2020 targets, and the 2050 Energy Roadmap. The focus is on electric batteries for vehicles, with a budget of €114 Million for 2019 and €70 Million for 2020.

CarPay-Diem mobile payment solution spotted by Volkswagen

Created two years ago, Luxembourg start-up CarPay-Diem offers a mobile payment solution for the (many) motorists who refuel at petrol stations. The company was discovered by the German group Volkswagen during the last Cebit trade fair in Hanover, and has, as a result, been offered a six-month stay at Die Gläserne Manufaktur, the group’s innovation incubator based in Dresden.
