Close to €1bn in state aid to businesses in five years

In about five years, the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy has granted businesses €906m in various state aid measures, focused notably on R&D, innovation and environmental protection. The support provided resulted in investments totalling €1.5bn in Luxembourg. A majority of the co-funded companies were informed by Luxinnovation in their application process.

Transnational call for R&D projects in lightweighting technologies open

The Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and national funding bodies in Austria, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Canada, France, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland are providing R&D project funding to organisations collaborating on international projects in lightweighting technologies. Applications can be submitted until 25 April 2023 for Luxembourg businesses.

The European Commission recently announced that Arspectra and Circuli-ion have been awarded funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. This is the most prestigious funding available for start-ups from the EU’s Horizon Europe programme. The European Commission has announced the appointment of Professor Björn Ottersten, Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre of Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg, as member of the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the Scientific Council. From 1 January 2023, Prof. Ottersten will serve as one of the 22 distinguished researchers representing the European scientific community.
