The music industry is probably one of the economic sectors with the longest experience in digitalisation. The arrival of mp3 compression and peer-to-peer sharing platforms is already about twenty years old and substantially impacted on the economic model of a highly codified industry.

However, the advent of the all-digital era has not finished challenging the economic models used by music professionals. The solution proposed by the start-up ANote is further proof of this. Created in 2018 in Luxembourg and now housed at Technoport, this young company has a clear objective: to develop a liquid, transparent and unique marketplace for music royalties.

In other words, it is about creating a digital platform based on blockchain to allow investors or music lovers to invest in their favourite songs, and thus help artists to progress.

“This idea came from the need to modernise and innovate the market for music royalties, bringing about new liquidity for participants to the music industry, as well as new investment opportunities for the financial sector,” explains Marzio Schena, one of ANote’s co-founders.

With Luxinnovation at an international event

At the last edition of the Pitch Your Startup competition, as part of ICT Spring, ANote was awarded a special prize by Luxinnovation. This will allow the start-up to have a physical presence, under his own banner, on the stand of the Luxembourg start-up ecosystem during a forthcoming major international exhibition.

An award that comes at the right time for the company, whose activity is in the launch phase. “We are now completing the revision of our user interface and testing our platform,” says Marzio Schena. “Italy is our launching market concerning music catalogues onboarding, but our platform launch is Pan-European.”

ANote founders already interacted with Luxinnovation. Since its launch, the start-up has benefited from the support of the agency’s Start-up team. ” Luxinnovation has accompanied us since the very beginning. We always received valuable advice, as well as help in our application for state aid,” confirms Matteo Cernuschi, also co-founder of ANote.
