The programme of this e-mission focused in particular on the areas of cybersecurity, industry 4.0 and future mobility. With the motto “GET2Know Your Neighbours”, companies from Luxembourg and Baden-Württemberg had the opportunity to get to know the economic advantages of the other location even better, to discover new market opportunities, to take part in round table discussions and to actively participate in a pitching session.
Over 275 business meetings and contacts were made between companies from Baden-Württemberg and Luxembourg via the event platform during the two days. More than 400 exchanges between participants have already been recorded.
Similar approaches
On the first day of the event, David Foy, Head of International Business Development – Digital Economy at Luxinnovation, illustrated Luxembourg’s evolution towards a data-driven economy. “We saw many similarities in technology development approaches and strategies,” he explains. “I believe that there is a huge potential to compliment the research capacities of each region. Luxembourg’s research in niche areas is a real value to the industrial and smart application of technologies developing in Baden-Württemberg. We are neighbours made for cooperation.”
The second day focused on digital innovation for the mobility of the future. Experts from Luxembourg and Baden-Württemberg provided an overview of their respective locations, as well as current developments in the sector.
Collaboration for overcome challenges
Stefan Büchele, head of international cooperation at the German national agency for new mobility solutions e-mobil BW, and Anthony Auert, manager of the AutoMobility Cluster coordinated by Luxinnovation, also emphasised the necessity and potential of cooperation between the two regions.
“One of my goals as cluster manager is to help companies grow further by implementing collaborative projects,” Mr Auert explained. “Strong collaboration between the regions represented at the event is more important than ever to overcome the challenges we face every day in terms of speed of innovation, time to market, cost pressure and disaster recovery.”
Joost Ortjens, Head of International Business Development – Automotive at Luxinnovation, who was speaking as a representative of the meta-cluster Autoregion, stressed the importance for Luxembourg of close cooperation in the Greater Region and beyond. “Cross-border collaboration is easy if you speak the languages of your neighbours. It happens nowhere in Europe, except Luxembourg.”
