Supported by the CCI Grand Est and the Pôle Véhicule du Futur, this 2022 edition of the cross-border forum Tomorrow in Motion aimed to open up new business opportunities for the automotive industry, which is under considerable pressure, in a number of areas.

Thus, decarbonisation for agile and resource-saving factories, digitalisation and digital technology, new engines with e-mobility and hydrogen, the circular economy and recycling, and training and new skills related to the mobility of the future were at the heart of the debates.

On the Luxembourg side, Jean Schiltz, Head of Smart Mobility at the Ministry of the Economy, participated in the opening panel alongside representatives from the main public institutions of the Greater Region. For his part, Joost Ortjens, Head of International Business Development – Automotive at Luxinnovation, took part in a round table discussion on the theme “The Greater Region, land of the automotive industry”.

“In these turbulent times for the automotive sector, it is more necessary than ever to strengthen our links with our friends in the Greater Region”, commented Anthony Auert, Manager of the Luxembourg AutoMobility Cluster at Luxinnovation. “This forum is a great catalyst to encourage the emergence of sustainable solutions that support the decarbonisation of transport while preserving jobs.”

“Value for companies in the sector”

In the end, three plenary sessions and eight round tables punctuated the two days, around the Exhibition (stands and vehicles) and Vehicle Testing areas.

In addition, more than a hundred B2B meetings, pre-organised with the support of the EEN (Enterprise Europe Network) and Grand E-Nov+, took place.

“With this 2022 edition, the EEN network has been collaborating with the clusters of the Greater Region for almost 10 years to organise this flagship event, which I believe brings a lot of value to the companies of the sector and allows them to establish new business relationships”, says Rémi Grizard, EEN contact point at Luxinnovation.

The Pôle Automobile Européen (PAE) project brings together 10 French, Belgian, Luxembourg and German partners under the coordination of CCI Grand Est.

Its main objective is to strengthen the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Greater Region (Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lorraine, Luxembourg, Wallonia) and neighbouring regions (Alsace, Baden-Württemberg, Champagne-Ardenne, etc.). This is in particular done by supporting SMEs in the automotive sector on regional, national and international markets, as well as by helping them launch innovation activities.
