The Horizon Europe research and innovation framework programme builds on several key EU strategies and policies. Successful proposals show a deep understanding of the EU policy landscape around a topic. Indeed, the project has to demonstrate how it contributes to the overall policy goals of the programme.

Takeaway n°1: keep in mind the big picture!
Contact your team of National Contact Points (NCP). We will support you identifying the right opportunity and the policy portfolio relevant to build your project.

Horizon Europe is structured around key building blocks with a specific logic behind the structure. Understanding the logic of the programme is key to be in the right proposer’s mind-set that is needed to build a successful proposal. The coherence of the structure of the programme is not easy to see, but it is from the Commission’s point of view. Knowing the big picture, within and outside Horizon Europe is essential.

Takeaway n°2: a topic does not exist alone, it has a history.
Contact your team of National Contact Points. We will support you analysing the background of the topic, the previous call topics and previous projects that your proposal needs to build on in order to be successful.

Horizon Europe builds on Horizon 2020. The programme structure shows an evolution from Horizon 2020 to Horizon Europe. This evolution aligns with Luxembourg national priorities, creating synergies with European Partnerships and other European Programmes. With the evolution comes a reorganisation of the thematic, and it can get confusing to find the right opportunity.

Takeaway n°3: Don’t get lost, get on the right track!
