Luxinnovation spoke with CEO Laurent Denayer.

How did you first hear about Luxinnovation and our Fit 4 Start programme?

We heard about the Fit 4 Start programme in a discussion we had with Luxinnovation about public aid and coaching support. Fit 4 Start actually provides these two features.

What was your biggest achievement?

All our achievements are linked to our clients’ satisfaction. We have managed to build a good solution that is matching a market need. Winning the award of the 2017 best Fintech Startup at the Luxembourg Finance Innovation Summit has further reconfirmed this.

Name 3 things you especially like about the Fit 4 Start programme?

  • Fit 4 Start is a fantastic coaching and brainstorming experience to test and challenges our vision as well as our business model.
  • Fit 4 Start is also a very exciting team experience. It pushed us to define our personal motivations as well as the ambitions we would like to realise.
  • Finally, Fit 4 Start is an interesting learning experience. We learned from the other projects, from their issues and the way they solved them and this has given us new ideas for our own project.

What did you learn so for by participating in the Fit 4 Start programme?

We learned that our hypothesis and assumptions were not as strong as we would have imagined. We started to question our business. At the end, this methodical doubt approach helped us to redefine our views and to come up with a new and better concept.

What are the upcoming challenges for your start-up?

We already made the difficult step to go from 0 to 1, meaning building something that did not exist before. The next challenges will be to go from 1 to 10 and then to 100, which means managing our growth in an efficient and effective manner. We are confident that we are on the right track.

Tips and tricks of an entrepreneur:

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

As Steve Job said: ‘Don’t live a limited life’. Be proud of what you are building in terms of product, team and experience and have no regrets.
