Initiated by the former Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Camille Gira, who died in 2018, the second edition of the Wood Cluster Forum will be held on 14 May at the Mierscher Kulturhaus.

Its magnificent wooden installations will host this interactive event, which will allow all stakeholders in the wood sector to share experiences and exchange ideas on key topics in the sector.

On the agenda of this event, which has already become a must for professionals in the timber industry in Luxembourg:

  • “inspiring speeches”, presenting innovative wood trends in Europe;
  • “pitches” of innovative projects and products led by local companies;
  • the exclusive presentation of the mapping of the wood sector in Luxembourg.

Horizon 2020 funding opportunity for bio-based industries

The recently launched Bio-Based Industries call for proposals offers €135 million of Horizon 2020 funding for projects aiming at boosting the development of the EU’s bio-based sector. The objective is to significantly reducing Europe’s dependency on fossil-based products, helping the EU meet climate change targets and foster more environmentally friendly growth. Interested companies and research organisations can apply for funding until 4 September 2019.

Superstar wood in Vorarlberg

The JECWorld 2019 exhibition, which was held in Paris from 12 to 14 March, was a great showcase for this subject, with more than 1,300 exhibitors from all over the world. Among them was a Luxembourg delegation that proudly displayed the country's colours on the national pavilion, organised by the Ministry of the Economy.
