The European Research Council (ERC) and European Innovation Council (EIC) are both part of Horizon Europe, the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation. Both initiatives have open calls for proposals that are about to close, and the deadlines have recently been modified.
“In light of the disruptions caused by the fallout of Hamas’ terrorist attacks across Israel, the European Commission has carefully assessed the challenges experienced by partner organisations in the region,” says the European Commission in a recent news alert. “We acknowledge that these circumstances make it difficult to timely complete and submit proposals to some Horizon Europe calls with deadlines in the coming days and weeks.”
New ERC and EIC submission deadlines
The following modifications of the submission deadlines have just been communicated:
- ERC Starting Grant Call from 24 October to 7 November at 17:00 CET
- ERC Synergy Call from 8 November to 15 November at 17:00 CET
- EIC Accelerator from 19 October to 8 November at 17:00 CET
- EIC Pathfinder from 18 October to 25 October at 17:00 CET
“We encourage all eligible organisations to take advantage of these extensions, allowing additional time for review, to make any necessary adjustments to their proposals, and thereby to ensure the successful submission of their applications,” the European Commission writes on its website. Consult the DG RTG news alert for additional information.
